FAQ
Do captions appear in one eye or both?
MyView caption glasses offer binocular display, meaning captions can be shown on both eyes. This helps reduce eye strain and improves comfort during long periods of use.
How do MyView caption glasses interact with a mobile phone?
MyView caption glasses connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The mobile phone provides network access, which is essential for real-time speech recognition and transcription. The phone is not used to power the glasses; it simply supports connectivity and app functions.
Do the glasses need to be connected to the internet to work?
Yes, a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection is required for the glasses to transcribe conversations accurately, as they rely on cloud-based processing. You can keep your phone in your pocket — as long as it’s connected, the glasses will work seamlessly, even in environments like cafés or restaurants.
Is the app necessary for the glasses to function?
The MyView app enhances the user experience but is not needed for basic captioning to work once the glasses are connected. The app allows you to:
- View the status of your glasses
- Access and manage saved transcription records
- Adjust display settings, such as caption preferences and language
Are the glasses dependent on the mobile phone for charging?
No. MyView caption glasses are powered independently and are not charged by the phone. They come with their own charging cable and can typically run for 10 hours on a single charge.
Can the glasses be used away from home or outside familiar networks?
Yes. As long as your phone provides a working mobile data connection, the glasses can function wherever you are — including public spaces like cafés, parks, or airports.
How do MyView caption glasses perform in noisy environments?
MyView caption glasses are equipped with built-in microphones and have been optimized to work well in noisy environments such as cafés. They are designed to capture and distinguish voices clearly even when there’s background noise.
Can I control the glasses without using the app?
Yes. The glasses include a built-in touchpad on the arm. You can:
- Tap to start or stop transcription
- Slide your finger to switch between functions
This makes the glasses easy to control during real-world use, without needing to open your phone.
What if I wear glasses or have vision problems?
MyView offers prescription clip-on frames. When placing your order, you can choose to enter your prescription, and we’ll prepare the lenses according to your prescription. You can also choose to take the clip-ons to your local optical shop if you prefer to use your own lenses.
