How to sign "who" in ASL
How to Sign "Who"
“Who” is signed by tapping an “L” handshape twice at your chin with slight facial expression:
- Form an “L” handshape with your dominant hand (thumb and index extended).
- Hold it near your chin.
- Tap the tip of your index finger to your chin twice gently.
- Raise your eyebrows slightly to indicate questioning.
Tips
- Use eyebrow raise to show the question tone.
- Do two distinct taps—don’t roll or slide the finger.
Common Mistakes
- Using an index finger only shape instead of “L.”
- Tapping shoulder or cheek—must be chin.
Think: “L at chin, eyebrow up twice—who?”
