How to sign "thank you" in ASL
How to Sign "Thank You"
“Thank you” is signed by moving your dominant hand from your chin outward, like blowing a kiss (but flatter):
- Start with fingers together and the tips touching your chin.
- Move your hand slightly forward and away from your face.
- Keep the palm facing upward.
Tips
- Use both hands for “thank you all” if you’re addressing a group.
- A smile adds warmth and reinforces politeness.
Common Mistakes
- Blowing a kiss — don’t pucker your lips or exaggerate the motion.
- Moving your hand downward — it should move outward and slightly up.
