How to sign "p" in ASL
How to Sign the Letter "P"
The letter “P” is made using your index and middle fingers (like a "K") but pointed downward:
- Form a “K” handshape: index and middle finger extended, thumb touching the middle finger.
- Then turn your hand palm down so your middle finger points downward — that’s "P".
Tips
- Think of it as an upside-down “K.”
- Keep your fingers firm and shaped — not floppy.
Common Mistakes
- Pointing fingers too far apart — the middle should be slightly bent down.
- Facing the palm the wrong way — palm should face down or slightly outward.
"P" points down like it’s painting the air.
