How to Sign "Mom"

“Mom” is signed with an open hand tapping the thumb to the chin:

  • Spread your fingers wide on your dominant hand.
  • Touch your thumb to your chin.
  • You can tap once or twice gently.

Think of the thumb touching the chin — close to where Mom might kiss you!

Tips for Signing "Mom"

  • Keep fingers spread out — don’t close them.
  • Use your thumb, not the whole hand, to touch your chin.
  • Smile — it helps express warmth and love.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Touching the forehead instead — that’s “Dad.”
  • Using a flat hand — keep fingers spread.
  • Moving the whole hand — just the thumb taps.

Chin = Mom, Forehead = Dad. It’s a helpful way to remember!
