How to sign "have" in ASL
How to Sign "Have"
“Have” is signed by bringing both bent hands to the chest, like you're showing what you possess:
- Bend your hands at the knuckles, fingers together and touching your chest.
- Palms face in toward your body.
- Tap your fingertips lightly to your upper chest on both sides at the same time.
Tips
- Think of saying “I have this” — pointing back to yourself.
- Use both hands equally and move with purpose, not a tap-tap.
Common Mistakes
- Placing your hands too low — the gesture should touch the upper chest, not stomach.
- Leaving fingers straight — they should be slightly curved.
Think: “What do I have? Right here.”
