How to sign "blue" in ASL

How to Sign "Blue"

“Blue” is signed by shaking the thumb and index finger of your dominant hand:

  • Form the letter “B” with your dominant hand (thumb across palm, fingers together and extended).
  • Shake the hand gently side to side a couple of times.

Tips

  • Visualize the color “blue” — the shake suggests fluidity.
  • Keep the motion steady and controlled.

Common Mistakes

  • Using wrong handshape — must be the “B” shape.
  • Shaking too vigorously — subtle motion is clearer.

Think: “Blue is calm shake of ‘B.’”
