How to sign "apple" in ASL
How to Sign "Apple"
“Apple” is signed by twisting your knuckle on your cheek, like you're showing a dimple or biting into an apple:
- Form an “X” handshape (hooked index finger) with your dominant hand.
- Place the knuckle of your bent index finger on your cheek.
- Twist it slightly in place a couple of times.
Tips
- Think of dimples or the action of biting into a crisp apple.
- Use a gentle, visible twist — don’t jab your face.
Common Mistakes
- Using the wrong finger — it must be a bent index ("X" hand).
- Placing it too low or not on the cheek.
Think: “Apples make your cheeks smile.”
