How to sign "and" in ASL
How to Sign "And"
“And” is signed by using your dominant hand to pull across from one side, like you're collecting or connecting ideas:
- Hold your dominant hand open, palm facing in, near one side of your body.
- Pull your hand across your chest, closing your fingers into a flat “O” shape as you go.
- It looks like you're gathering items into your hand.
Tips
- Think of pulling together two or more things — that's "and."
- Practice the smooth motion from open to closed fingers.
Common Mistakes
- Stopping the motion halfway — make a full pull across.
- Not closing your hand into a clear flat “O” shape.
Think: “Bring ideas together = and.”
