How to sign "after" in ASL
How to Sign "After"
“After” is signed by pointing both index fingers and moving one behind the other:
- Hold both hands with index fingers extended (like pointing straight ahead).
- Place your dominant index finger behind your non‑dominant, then move it forward to cross ahead.
Tips
- Visualize one thing coming after another — one finger passing the other.
- Movement should be smooth and precise.
Common Mistakes
- Both fingers moving — only the dominant finger should move around.
- Crossing at wrong angle — ensure a clean pass behind.
Think: “One follows the other — that’s after.”
