How to sign "about" in ASL
How to Sign "About"
“About” is signed by twisting an “A” handshape near the center of your chest:
- Form your dominant hand into an “A” (closed fist with thumb beside index).
- Place it near the center of your chest, palm slightly toward you.
- Twist the wrist so the thumb rotates slightly out and in—like stiring a small motion.
Tips
- Think of stirring a concept in your chest—slight twist expresses “about.”
- Keep motion subtle and continuous.
Common Mistakes
- Using an open palm instead of clenched fist for “A.”
- Twisting too much or too fast—should be small and calm.
Think: “A shape stirs inside—about.”
