How to sign "abc" in ASL

How to Sign "ABC"

“ABC” is signed by fingerspelling the letters A-B-C one at a time:

  • Form the letter A with your dominant hand (thumb on side of a closed fist).
  • Then switch to the letter B (open hand, palm forward, fingers together).
  • Then the letter C (form a “C” shape with curved fingers).

Tips

  • Keep your hand steady at chest level when fingerspelling.
  • Practice the handshapes slowly at first, then increase speed with confidence.

Common Mistakes

  • Sloppy or unclear letter shapes.
  • Moving the hand too much — keep it steady.
  • Not pausing slightly between letters.

Clear handshapes are key in fingerspelling!
